Cell sorting is a crucial step in the battery manufacturing process. It involves testing, matching, and grouping individual battery cells based on characteristics such as:

While all 18650 or 21700 cells might appear identical, even brand-new cells from the same batch can vary in performance. These small differences can lead to imbalanced battery packs, causing faster wear, overheating, or failure. RPE’s sorting process eliminates that risk.

Rechargeable Power Energy follows a multi-phase cell sorting and verification process using professional-grade equipment, including IR testers, Neware BTS testers, and automated sorters.

1. Initial Testing

Each cell is scanned and tested individually for:

  • Voltage (V)

  • Internal Resistance (IR)

  • Capacity (mAh)

  • Surface condition and consistency

2. Parameter Analysis

Advanced software analyzes all test results. Outliers or low-quality cells are flagged and removed from production.

3. Sorting & Grouping

Remaining cells are digitally grouped based on performance similarities (voltage, IR, and capacity). This ensures all cells in a single pack operate in harmony.

4. Pack Matching & Balancing

Matched cells are then arranged and welded into series and parallel groups (e.g., 10S5P). By keeping variation to a minimum, RPE ensures optimal pack balance, thermal control, and performance.
